New certification schemes for Green StarTM rating system
The Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) has recently recognised some new product certification schemes for its Green StarTM building rating system .
Ecospecifier's GreenTag GreenRate Assessment, the Carpet Institute of Australia's Environmental Certification Scheme (ECS) and the AFRDI Sustainability Standard (AFRDI Standard 150) for commercial furniture have been completed and recognised under the GBCA's Assessment Framework for Product Certification Schemes.
This recognition means that products certified by GreenRate (one of two streams of the GreenTag scheme) under three categories ('carpet and flooring', 'furniture' and 'walls, partitions and ceilings'), carpet products certifed by the ECS and furniture certifed by AFRDI Standard 150, may achieve points under the Materials Category in the Green Star environmental rating tools for buildings
