CPRS increases councils' costs for carbon intensive products
The Municipal Association of Victoria has released Financial Implications of Carbon Emissions Trading on Victorian Councils, a report assessing the cost impacts for local governments of the introduction of the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme. The report assesses the likely increased total costs for councils as between 2 ? 3% (depending on the price on carbon) based on the purchasing of fuel, electricity and gas, and the generation of waste in landfill.
