Saab "Grrrrrreen" claims declared misleading by Federal Court
Serving as a warning to other companies pursuing green marketing strategies, the Federal Court has found that Saab's 2007 "Grrrrrreen" advertising campaign was false and misleading to consumers in its environmental claims. The advertising campaign stated that Saab would plant trees to offset greenhouse gas emissions occurring in the life of each car sold. However, the number of trees to be planted only covered the greenhouse gas emissions of the car in its first year.
Australian Council of Recyclers highlights risks for recycling industry
The Australian Council of Recyclers (ACOR) has highlighted that under current proposals the Government's Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme will disadvatantage some recycling companies as a result of higher energy costs whilst emitters using virgin materials will qualify for free benefits.
